Dogging Early Voters

As organizers continue to get the vote out, the owner of Rex’s Doggy Day Care and Boarding House at 2120 Ashland Ave. in Evanston, is taking a unique approach, offering free doggy daycare to early Cook County voters on the day they vote with proof they cast their ballot.

Early voting at polling precincts begins Thursday, Sept. 24 and runs through Monday, Nov.2, 2020 and during that time, Cook County voters can drop-off their pups at Rex’s Doggy Day Care for a day of fun, safe socialization, compliments of Rex’s Place owner Kathy Lichtenstein.

“We really want to do our part to help get the vote out,” says Lichtenstein who believes that people are facing extra obstacles this election due to Covid-19, unemployment and financial challenges. “We’d hate to think that someone failed to get to their polling precinct because they didn’t want to leave a new puppy, or a high-energy or anxious dog alone. But it’s also our way of saying thank you to the residents of our community for taking the time to make their voices heard!”

To take Kathy up on her offer, dog-owning-voters must book their visit in advance at www.rexsplace.com and click on “BOOK” under the Rex’s Place logo at the top of the page. The complimentary day visit is good throughout early voting dates, Sept. 24 to Nov. 2, 2020. Rex’s Place Doggy Day Care is open from 7 a.m. through 6 p.m. and early voters can drop-off and pick-up their pets for their free visit any time between those dates and hours.

When picking-up your pup, be sure to show Rex’s Place staff your “I VOTED TODAY!” sticker or other voting proof, such as a ballot copy, and no charges will be applied.

Rex’s Place was founded on the premise that no one wants to be left home alone, including your dog. From this core belief, we developed and continue to provide an array of exemplary services that raise the standard of canine care.
